"Crops for the Future"
ICUC and GFU have raised the issue of a joint future with a discussion paper presented at a satellite meeting during the CGIAR Annual General Meeting in Washington DC, 5 December 2006. Following the rich debate at that meeting, the Scientific Advisory Board of ICUC and Steering Committee of GFU contracted an independent consultant to further look into the future need of a separate entity for underutilized plants and if positive, provide suggestions for its mandate and institutional organization. A stakeholder meeting took place during CGIAR AGM07 in Beijing on 2 December 2007.
A small independent Task Force will move ahead to facilitate the implementation of "Crops for the Future" in early 2008.
