New team member at ICUC

The ICUC team has been strengthened with the arrival of Mr Sivanthe Samarasinghe on 23 November. During the next six months, Sivanthe will follow up on the successful work of Ismael Barry and develop further small-scale underutilised fruit producer and collector cooperatives in Sri Lanka.

Sivanthe has recently obtained his BSc in Agricultural Economics from Peradeniya University, Sri Lanka. Prior to joining ICUC, he worked with GTZ Sri Lanka on a project studying the willingness to pay for improved quality services within the public sector and has assisted Ismael from time to time in his surveys. Outside work Sivanthe plays badminton and table tennis, and has won several gold medals in island-wide badminton contests.
