ICUC Scientific Advisory Board member visits Sri Lanka

Mr John Palmer, one of the ICUC Scientific Advisory Board members, visited Sri Lanka 1-3 October. We took the opportunity to travel to Galle where we met one of our project partners, the Savordaya Economic Enterprise Development Services (SEEDS) and saw the food processing training resource centre they established with part support of ICUC earlier this year. We then went to visit Mr Jayantha Karunarathne's fruit processing enterprise "Ruweena", where we had a chance to chat with Mr Jayantha and his wife whilst they were preparing woodapple jam. Mr Jayantha is one of the early ICUC fruit processing trainees. He is now exporting his products via the Sri Lanka Export Development Board to places as far away as Benin, West Africa.
